This place has a reputation that outdoes the reality. There's not much quality represented in the food or ingredients considering the price you'll pay. Also you must order paella for at least two people. The outdoor tables are usually taken, leaving you in a cavernous interior with very slow service. Meh.

If you want to have a delicious paella, this is really the place to be! They serve different traditional paella’s and the restaurant seems to be appreciated by a lot of locals. The waiters are extremely friendly and the view is stunning from the terrace!

Very busy at lunchtime and dinner, and waiting staff can sometimes be hard to catch to place orders but the food is lovely. Been here 3 times so far, once for a lobster paella which was delicious and then twice for tapas. Excellent croquettes, calamari, and grilled veg. Bit stingey with the bread though - 2 pieces between two people when ordered as a starter with garlic mayo and tomato relish!

I've been to La Pepica a dozen times since the early 90s and have had mixed experiences but I'd still recommend the place to visitors. As many poster her have said, it's not just about the food - the place has been around since 1898 and is mentioned in one of Hemingway's books. The walls at the entrance are covered with pics of celebs that have visited the place (Bono was there recently), which kind of adds to the place. I've been to famous eateries before where the only attraction is not the food but the name on the door but La Pepica serves decent food.

A very long established Valencia institution and well deserved. Huge dining area, excellent vegetable paella at modest prices

We were there a couple of days back and had a Paella (too salty and oily for my liking but still nice) and some pretty standard starters (cod and squid). The waiter was excellente - super fast and efficient. The deserts are mostly homemade and are very tasty...
